Supply Chain Optimization for Multistage Supply Chains

SmartOps Company History: True to Our Roots

Our founder and CEO, Dr. Sridhar Tayur, a tenured professor in operations research and management at The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, has led breakthroughs in developing advanced stochastic optimization solutions for multistage supply chains for more than a decade.

Building on the foundations of over four decades of academic research on inventory theory, fundamentally new classes of computational methods were developed in the early 1990s by Tayur and his colleagues. These extremely scalable, and comprehensive algorithms form the basis of SmartOps' practical, real-world applications to drive supply chain optimization improvements.

As a result of his initial breakthroughs, Dr. Tayur was called on by several visionary Fortune 500 companies in the mid-1990s to see if these academic approaches could solve industrial-size supply chain problems. After successfully implementing profitable solutions for several large companies, he established SmartOps in 2000 to extend those successes through enterprise-strength software solutions.

Based on Dr. Tayur's research and advances in computing power, SmartOps developed a new class of enterprise application that uses systematic, scientific methods of incorporating uncertainty within decision-making processes at the planning and execution levels (e.g., by item, location, and time period).  Request more information about our supply chain optimization solutions.
