Breakout: MIPO Classroom - Hands-On Approach to Inventory Management

Utilizing a pre-developed model of a muesli/cereal supply chain, this advanced training course allows teams of participants to use the SmartOps MIPO application to address a series of real world supply chain management questions. Each of these questions represents a scenario encountered in the typical life of a supply chain planner, one that needs to be analyzed and executed upon. Through this hands-on test drive, participants will use their knowledge and intuition to determine the possible answers to the scenarios and then compare those answers to the results MIPO delivers. Interestingly, those answers may prove counterintuitive to long-standing inventory planning practices. The overall focus of the exercise illustrates how inventory optimization allows a firm to achieve a competitive advantage by reducing inventory investment with no sacrifice to service level. Additional education areas include how to optimally respond to changing market conditions including: longer and more variable lead time, new contractual agreements, and changes to supply chain parameters. Users must meet requirements to attend.
